Small "p" Publishing: A Networked Blogging Approach to Academic Discourse
Martin, Julia W.; Hughes, Brian
Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship, v24 n1 p17-21 2012
This article highlights a middle ground for academic publishing between formal peer-reviewed journals and informal blogging that we call "Small "p" Publishing." Having implemented and tested a publishing network that illustrates this middle ground, we describe its unique contributions to scholars and learning communities. Three features that contribute to specific communication outcomes are discussed: the network, related posts, and reposting. The interplay of these features within the publishing network constitutes a new opportunity for several types of participants within a learning community to interact against the backdrop of a content-centric social network.
