This bilingual (Spanish-English) manual provides a series of articles that explain the parliamentary procedure. These guidelines are not presented to limit the open atmosphere that is essential to farmer cooperative meetings. Their structure is intended to provide a basis for equal participation in meeting discussions, nomination, and voting. Topics include the function of farmer cooperative meetings; notification of members, the agenda, and the minutes; the order of business; motions; motions mean action (a step-by-step example of the procedure for making motions); voting and quorum; the elections of officers or directors; and presiding officers. Tips for conducting better meetings are then suggested. The manual concludes with definitions of words and terms related to parliamentary procedure.
