Because of the location of the college institution, CSC teacher interns have been placed in cooperating schools within a 375 mile radius of Chadron, NE. It has not been unusual for CSC faculty members to travel several hours from Chadron to supervise teacher interns. Following the mandates of the Nebraska Department of Education [NDE], (2008), Chadron State College has required faculty to visit teacher interns on-site at their cooperating schools a minimum of five times during the 16 week semester. This mixed method study analyzed the satisfaction that elementary teacher interns, their on-site cooperating teachers, and their college supervisors had with an online supervision visit compared to a traditional, school site, face-to-face supervision visit. The researcher proposed replacing the fourth of five on-site supervision visits with an online supervision visit. From the data, the researcher concluded that all three groups, the elementary teacher interns, the cooperating teachers, and the CSC supervisors were very satisfied with the traditional, face-to-face, on-site, teacher intern supervision. The data also showed that the majority of the three groups were either in favor of or neutral to the online teacher intern supervision as a viable alternative to one, face-to-face, teacher intern supervision. The summary of the qualitative responses from the three groups is consistent with the quantitative data collected in the satisfaction survey. Lastly, the data indicated that lack of prior online computer experience and the age of the participants did not indicate a negative bias towards the online teacher intern supervision experience. This study added to the knowledge base regarding the use of online communication and learning. The data collected, analyzed, and defined within this study could make contributions in support of online supervision of elementary teacher interns in institutions of higher learning. Online supervision may help to decrease the expense to the institution of travel expenses, instructor release time, and the cost of accidents and injuries. Finally, online supervision of elementary teacher interns supports the public demand placed upon institutions of higher learning to increase the online technology knowledge base of graduates.
