A Study of the Relationship between Tutor's Personality and Teaching Effectiveness: Does Culture Make a Difference?
Chan, Bobbie
International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning, v3 n2 Oct 2002
The Chinese Personality Assessment Inventory was completed by 59 Hong Kong open university tutors who had completed the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Results were compared with student evaluations of teaching, indicating that Renqing (social favors), face, harmony, and leadership predicted teaching effectiveness. Facets derived from Chinese tradition usefully complemented the MBTI. (Contains 63 references.) (SK)
