La Mujer Chicana: An Annotated Bibliography, 1976.
Chapa, Evey, Ed.; And Others
Intended to provide interested persons, researchers, and educators with information about "la mujer Chicana", this annotated bibliography cites 320 materials published between 1916 and 1975, with the majority being between 1960 and 1975. The 12 sections cover the following subject areas: Chicana publications; Chicana feminism and "el movimiento"; education; health--birth control, folk medicine, mental health, and health in general; history; labor/employment; culture; the family; machismo; politics; social issues--child care, prison, rape, religion, sex-role stereotyping, welfare, and youth related; and "Third World Women". Entries in the section on Chicana publications fall under two categories: publications initiated and produced by mujeres, and special editions of existing Chicano periodicals or journals. Among the topics covered are the problems Chicanas face in education; historical events which occurred before 1960, primarily concerning Mexicanas and Latinas; Chicana involvement in literature and the arts; political activities of Chicanas; problems in attaining equality in employment; and Chicana involvement in boycotts and strikes. Many of the sources are cross-referenced under a second subject area. Entries are consecutively numbered and the cross-referenced annotation refers the reader to another number in the bibliography. In order to facilitate the acquisition of the materials not easily located in most libraries, a list of addresses for their source is appended. (NQ)
