This perfect bound teacher's guide presents techniques and activities to teach mathematics using origami paper folding. Part 1 includes a history of origami, mathematics and origami, and careers using mathematics. Parts 2 and 3 introduce paper-folding concepts and teaching techniques and include suggestions for low-budget paper resources. Part 4 provides a lesson plan guide and interdisciplinary cross-reference chart. Part 5 presents paper-folding projects and activities using the square, rectangle, and triangle. Part 6 offers cultural and educational enrichment activities, including: math journals, thought-of-the-week quotations, a Japanese fan, haiku, a fortune cookie recipe, Japanese vocabulary of numbers and common words, tangram puzzles, an origami mobile, the thousand cranes story, and a cooperative learning activity about drawing diagrams. The last section, Part 7, includes suggestions for using origami, how to arrange a children's origami exhibit, a glossary, suggested readings and resources, and an order form.
