Visual and Verbal Metaphors among Children with Typical Language and Language Disorders.

Twenty-four children (ages 8-12) with and without language disorders explained possible pairings of both pictorial and verbal stimuli. Control subjects provided significantly more metaphoric accounts of pairings than children with language disorders, regardless of modality. Pictorial stimuli elicited significantly more metaphoric pairings than did verbal stimuli for both groups. (Author/DB)
