The Association of American Medical Colleges conducted a survey by means of a questionnaire in 1970-71 to determine the salaries of medical school faculties. Ninety-three schools submitted returns; salaries for 4,366 basic scientists and 12,701 clinical scientists are reported. The areas covered include strict full-time faculty by department, and base salaries and total income geographic by department. Information concerning geographic arrangements has some discrepancies, since a number of schools and departments failed to report the variable component of the salary derived from fees for professional services. These figures reflect only the salary provided through the medical school for professional services for teaching, service, or research, and do not reflect total income. (JMF)
