Multi-Media Instructional Materials for Teaching Nursing.
Krueger, Elizabeth A.; Jaeckels, David L.
A project was designed to investigate the use and effectiveness of an instructional design system in which systematically prepared materials, in conjunction with automated devices, were used to teach manipulative nursing skills on an independent study basis. This report presents the problem of designing and constructing such instructional sequences and the needs, assumptions and the methods of the project. The literature relevant to the project is reviewed, and the process used to design the instructional sequences is described. The preparation of the visual, aural, and tactile stimulus materials is detailed, along with a rationale for the selection of equipment to present the sequences. The experimental use of the sequences in two field-test sites and the results of data analyses are presented. Extensive appendices and a bibliography are attached. (RH)
