This vocational program guide is intended to assist in the organization, operation, and evaluation of a program in fashion marketing in school districts, area vocational centers, and community colleges. The following topics are covered: program content (job duties of wholesale and retail clothing salespersons and curriculum framework and student performance standards); facilities (design criteria, suggested equipment and supplies, and safety); personnel considerations (the student learning guide, student organization participation, teacher certification, and professional organizations and support services); and instructional resources (sources of print and audiovisual materials and software, teacher-recommended materials, and periodicals). A sample student learning guide is appended. A Career Merit Achievement Plan (Career MAP) for use in recording the progress of students enrolled in a fashion marketing program is packaged with the program guide. Included in the Career MAP are a list of relevant job titles, overview of the MAP and directions for using it, guidelines for rating student performance standards, and charts detailing the various subcompetencies of the fashion marketing skills and work environment readiness skills covered in the fashion marketing program.
