The Environment of Crises in the Nigerian Education System.
Nwagwu, Cordelia C.
Comparative Education, v33 n1 p87-95 Mar 1997
During 1960-95, unplanned and uncontrolled educational expansion in Nigeria, coupled with a population explosion, military coups, and a depressed economy, created an environment of crisis in the educational system. Problems included poor funding; inadequate facilities; corruption in admissions, certification, and examination practices; emergence of secret cults; frequent strikes and closures; and abandonment of academic standards.
