Illustrated French Idioms.
Ainsa, Serge M.
Designed to promote an awareness of the everyday French language, this supplementary textbook was developed to enable students of French to use idiomatic expressions from the early learning stages to the more advanced levels. The units are arranged as follows according to the verb component of the expression: "avoir,""etre,""faire," the three regular verb groups, irregular verbs and reflexive verbs. Each expression has a corresponding pen-and-ink illustration of the literal meaning to facilitate its memorization and to increase the student's vocabulary. At the end of the text, there is an English-French and a French-English dictionary including verbs from the illustrated sections and other popular idiomatic expressions not contained in those sections. Because of its structure, this textbook can be used for enrichment with any basic French language textbook. (Author/AMH)
