Creating an Innovative Learning Organization

This article describes how to create an innovative learning (iLearning) organization. It begins by discussing the life cycle of knowledge in an organization, followed by a description of the theoretical foundation for iLearning. Next, the article presents an example of iLearning, followed by a description of the distributed nature of work, the underlying performance objectives of the work, and the cognitive needs of learners in an organization. Afterwards, the article gives a description of the supportive technology needed to address these aspects of work and for learners to realize innovative learning. Finally, the discussion section summarizes how single-loop and double-loop learning transform an organization into an iLearning organization. (Contains 4 figures.)
