This publication was developed by the Cincinnati (Ohio) Public Schools for use as a resource in adult basic education classes. It presents, in simple format, the basic legal rights of citizens of the United States and points out legal problem areas that average adults may encounter in daily life. The book is organized into nine parts containing 2 to 11 chapters each. These nine parts cover the following topics: introduction to legal terminology and procedures, contracts, business transactions (purchases, sales, warranties, credit cards, buying an automobile, borrowing money), debtor and creditor rights, real estate, insurance, landlord and tenant relationships, family law, and liability. Each chapter contains information sections followed by questions and problems. A list of names, addresses, and phone numbers of agencies and organizations that aid consumers completes the publication. (KC)
