Land Use Planning Workbook.
Tucker, Evelyn
This document presents a rationale and procedures for a series of workshops on land use planning. It was developed initially as a response to the need for information and materials for land use planning in rural Alaska. A four cycle planning model is provided and a suggested format is offered for an individual workshop session. Each session contains background information, exercises of application possibilities, and a list of discussion questions. The session topics include: (1) goals (discussing what goals are, what they should do, and how to write them); (2) objectives; (3) information (explaining what data are needed); (4) alternatives (identifying what they are, how to develop, and how to evaluate them); (5) plans (proposing selection and implementation possibilities); and (6) review and revise (discussing ongoing and periodic evaluation strategies).
