Ethnic and Gender Differences in Student-Athletes' Responses to Stressful Life Events.
Smallman, Edward; And Others
Journal of College Student Development, v32 n3 p230-35 May 1991
Explored the role that gender and ethnicity play in athletes' responses to life events that correlate to depression, anxiety, somatic discomfort, and stress. Neither ethnicity or gender influenced the number of experienced stressful life events. However, Black and male athletes reported significantly higher ratings of aversiveness than did White or female athletes after experiencing a stressful life event. (LLL)
