The main research question of this study was, "What effects does a university education have on the ministerial behaviors of Indian Pentecostal Church of God (IPCG) pastors in Kerala, India?" Three data collection methods were used: interview, questionnaire, and participant observation. There were 10 university-educated (UE) pastors interviewed, and they responded to 20 questions. Questionnaires were distributed to 150 UE participants, and 65 were returned. Participant observations were conducted in 7 churches to observe the ministerial behaviors of the UE pastors. Participating pastors revealed in the interviews and questionnaire that a provision for systematic continuing education for pastors would be good. They also suggested that the fast-pace of modern life in India and the world makes it inevitable for IPCG pastors to be time oriented during services, to listen to the desires of the youth, and to maintain a neutral approach to wearing jewelry (at least for newcomers). They also recommended 5-year terms of service (rather than the usual 3-year terms) and fixed salaries, regardless of church size. The participant observations revealed that the UE pastors met the expectations associated with the different ordinances typically observed by IPCG pastors.
