A total of 40 adults and 120 children from grades 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, and 12 were tested in a release from proactive inhibition task for their appreciation of the relations among words belonging to categories of differing levels of generality. The same subjects were subsequently tested with the same words in an equivalence task requiring verbal description. (Author/RH)
