Where Are the Faculty?
Hoskins, Barbara J.
Journal of Continuing Higher Education, v58 n2 p124-125 2010
This article discusses how faculty members feel about the growth and quality of distance, distributed, and online higher education. The twenty-first century university must innovate to survive as the Internet becomes the dominant source of knowledge and learning. The twenty-first century student connects with information differently than earlier generations. Online teaching and learning can meet some of their needs by incorporating active collaborative learning strategies, building interactive learning communities, and providing 24/7 access to the educational process. The author provides some suggestions on how to engage faculty in this evolution.
