The contents of this book, an outgrowth of a symposium held at the meetings of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington on December 30, 1966, are organized in three sections. Section one, "Behavior-Genetic Analyses and Their Relevance to the Construct of Race," includes the following essays: "The Construct Race and the Innate Differential," Peter Kilham and Peter H. Section two, "Biological Aspects of Race in Man," includes the following essays: "Race: the Reflections of a Biological Historian," Loren Eiseley; "The Genetic Basis of Human Races," Bentley Glass; and "The Biological Race Concept as a Research Tool," Paul T. Baker. Section three, "Social and Psychological Aspects of Race," includes the following essays: "The Need to Investigate Average Biological Differences Among Racial Groups," Dwight J. Ingle; "The Need to End the Pseudo-scientific Investigation of Race," Morton H. Fried; "Some Motivational Determinants of Racial Differences in Intellectual Achievement," Irwin Katz; and, "Racial Classifications: Popular and Scientific," Gloria A. Marshall. Supplementary remarks and discussion are contributed by Ethel Tobach, Margaret Mead, J.P. Scott, Edmund W. Gordon, Theodosius Dobzhansky, Ernst Mayr, Paul T. Baker, Bentley Glass, and Jerry Hirsch.
