Coping with the Impact of Incontinence
Gartley, Cheryle
Exceptional Parent, v38 n10 p53-54 Oct 2008
This article presents Part 2 of a multi-part series offering the most timely educational information, innovative approaches, products and technology solutions as well as coping and stigma-fighting approaches available on the subject of incontinence. In this article, the author contends that it is extremely important to teach children coping skills so that incontinence does not take up unnecessary emotional energy or contribute to low self-esteem. This can be addressed both within the family unit and in society at large by each person doing his or her part to help defeat stigma in healthcare.
