This kit provides materials that teach about Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and pregnancy using group instructional methodology to actively engage students in the learning process. Using cooperative learning materials and videotape recordings, the program stresses abstinence as the only sure way to prevent STDs and teaches awareness of the consequences of risky behavior and how to avoid it. Each cooperative learning program kit contains videotapes that serve to stimulate discussion, educate students about STDs, and model appropriate behaviors. The tapes feature two versions of an AIDS prevention video--one discussing condom use and one without the condom explanation, a tape in which a teenager learns what it means to have gonorrhea, and a teacher training video that serves as a leader's guide for training teachers to use the materials effectively. The kits also include four team packs ("Watch Yourself", "This Can't Happen To Me", "Courting Trouble", "Once is Enough"), consisting of booklets to be coordinated with the tapes, that guide students as they work together in small groups; and instructions and STD information for teachers. With the teacher acting as facilitator, students use role play and teach each other about sexually transmitted diseases. (LL)
