The Input Hypothesis: An Inside Look.
Higgs, Theodore V.
Foreign Language Annals, v18 n3 p197-203 May 1985
Summarizes and discusses Krashen's "input hypothesis" as presented in his "Principles and Practice in Second Language Acquisition." Suggests that the input hypothesis fails to account convincingly for arrested second language acquisition in an acquisition-rich environment and that it is not directly applicable to U.S. high school and university foreign language classes.
