This ex post facto study examined the relationship between Pell Grant aid and persistence of for-profit four-year college students enrolled during 2003-04 through the next six years in the United States and Puerto Rico. This study examined the demographic dissimilarities in students based on age, gender, financial aid status and ethnicity of those who received Pell Grants and those who did not receive Pell Grants. Logistic regressions were used to determine whether Pell Grant aid was a predictor of student persistence of for-profit college students. The findings of this study revealed that Pell Grant aid had varying relationships between the independent variables and the dependent variable of student persistence. The students within the demographic groups of Asians, Black or African Americans, females and older students were shown to persist at greater rates when they received Pell Grant aid versus the same groups when they did not receive Pell Grant aid.
