As part of an examination required by the Alberta (Canada) Department of Education in order for 12th grade students to receive a diploma in French, this booklet contains the composition component of the January 1987 tests. Divided into three essay questions for a total writing time of two and one-half hours duration, parts one and two of the test require essays that answer or argue a given statement, while part three (the longest section and worth the most credit) asks for a comparison of a character in a short story printed in the booklet with any other French literary personage who has been studied in any genre of French literature. The booklet provides suggestions for approaches to the last composition, as well as several supplementary sheets for practice writing. Instructions and questions are in French. (NKA)
