Freestyle Guide.
Science Research Associates, Inc., Chicago, IL.
This booklet serves as an introduction to the concept of Freestyle, a career awareness project designed to encourage nine- to twelve-year-olds to freely explore their interests, develop their skills, and choose their career paths. The booklet includes an explanation of the Freestyle project, goals, and components (t.v. programs, project guide, calendar, and magazine). Program units are divided into the following sections: highlights, preview activity, talk topics, and more to come. Program units focus on cooperation, independence, nontraditional skills and interests, helping skills, changing roles, reasonable risks, stereotyping, responsible leadership, and assertiveness. Each of these activity units are then discussed in more detail, with suggested learning activities. The booklet also includes a glossary, list of nontraditional jobs for women and men, activity chart, and reading suggestions. (CT)
