Conference Summary
Doherty, Cait
Child Care in Practice, v15 n2 p163-171 Apr 2009
This article summarizes an original conference, organised by the Child Care Research Forum (http://www.qub.ac.uk/sites/ccrf/), which brought together experts from all over Northern Ireland to showcase some of the wealth of research with children and young people that is going on in the country today. Developed around the six high-level outcomes of the cross-governmental "10-year Strategy for Children and Young People" (Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, 2006), the conference and accompanying book of abstracts aimed to showcase current Northern Ireland research findings, highlighting policy initiatives, research methods and technological innovations. The structure of the day included a workshop on each of the six outcomes of the 10-year Strategy, with each session comprising two to three speakers. Delegates had the opportunity to attend two of the six sessions. Key points of each of the presentations are included in this article.
