Leadership, Feminism, and Classroom Politics--Or, How I Gave up the Fight and Learned to Love Resistance
Williams, Lee Burdette
About Campus, v8 n6 p18-23 Jan-Feb 2004
Most people resist learning to some extent or another, so it is not surprising that students do as well. Like many who spend time in the classroom, the resistance the author encountered in students has been a source of frustration. The author realizes how most students harbor negative feelings towards the concept of leadership and feminism. In this article, the author shares the ability to make students acquire an accepting attitude towards leadership and feminism. The author also shares the final understanding that students' resistance is not a wall, but a path between teacher and students and the teachers role is to help them both travel it.
