This paper provides an overview of the concept of feeling-of-knowing judgment, methodological issues regarding the concept, and its relationship with metacognition and self-regulation of learning. Feeling-of-knowing refers to the judgment about the degree of accuracy for recognizing or knowing a task or answer and predicting one's knowledge. Feeling-of-knowing judgment encompasses two different cognitive processes. Feeling-of-knowing is examined under the umbrella of metacognition. This paper considers the links between feeling-of-knowing and the self-regulation of learning. Consistent with the social cognitive theory, this article concludes by suggesting that there is support for the premise that feeling-of-knowing and self-regulation of learning are related and together influence the learning process.
