Making a Difference by Serving All Students
Olley, Rivka I.
Communique, v37 n7 p17-18 May 2009
Randi Brown came to school psychology almost as a family business. Her grandmother was a school psychologist and the first licensed psychologist in the state of New York. Randi graduated with a doctoral degree from Yeshiva University and has served students in Westchester County, New York, for 18 years. She exemplifies the dedication typical of so many school psychologists and, when asked, will readily state that she enjoys her job. Randi has consistently considered her responsibilities to include serving all students in the school community. Over the years, she has initiated prevention, intervention, and after school programs, including peer mediation. Currently, she is a member of the Internal Review Board (IRB) for her high school's Intel program. Randi's dedication to all the students in her school is exemplified by her leadership in specific activities such as the peer mediation program and in her commitment to create an atmosphere of warmth, caring, and fun. Through 18 years of professional service and dedication to students, Randi has been an exemplary model of personal and professional growth in her effort to best serve all students, families, and her schools.
