The Problem: The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between environmental turbulence, management support, organizational collaboration, information technology solution realization, and process performance in healthcare provider organizations. Method: A descriptive/correlational study of Hospital medical services process performance from questionnaire responses was conducted. U.S. hospital General Managers, Chief Medical Officers, Chief Information Officers, and Chief Medical Information Officers were the research population. Results: Management perception of environmental turbulence is positively related to levels and types of management support. Management support and organizational collaboration are positively related to IT solution realization. IT solution realization is positively related to medical services process performance. As environmental turbulence increases, Management Support increases. Increases in management support and organizational collaboration are related to increases in IT solution realization which in turn is related to increases in medical services operational process performance. This study provided empirical support for organizational environmental turbulence as a driving variable for management support and overall medical services process performance.
