Investigated the effect of gender-typed clothing on 5- to 10-year-old children's social judgments and perceptions of their peers. Found that children preferred same-sex peers dressed neutrally and stereotypically. Perceptions of preferred play activities were congruent with gender label of the target's clothing, and responses varied by age and sex of the participant. (JPB)
