Though age and gender do not affect students' knowledge of global issues and associated ambiguity, the academic major of undergraduates did. Students' combined perceptions on knowledge of these issues and their associated ambiguities varied among the four academic groups of majors. Unlike teacher education majors and in combined other majors (business, fine arts, and health-related fields), the researcher found that arts and sciences majors perceived themselves to be more knowledgeable about these issues than they perceived these issues to be ambiguous to them. Midwestern millennial students at the University of South Dakota perceived themselves as moderately knowledgeable regarding complex global issues of poverty, politics, Middle Eastern ethnic conflicts, economics, and discrimination based on race, religion, and social class.
