Program Improvement Project for Industrial Education. Annual Report.
Shaeffer, Bruce W.
Designed to improve industrial education programs through the development of minimum uniform quality standards, a project developed a task list, educationally sequenced the identified tasks, and developed a recommended shop layout and equipment list for four occupational areas: diesel repair, appliance repair, office machine repair, and small engine repair. Inservice training on use of the materials and development of student materials was provided for teachers. Other activities included collecting current materials, practices, and procedures for certain program areas and incorporating activities to eliminate sex bias and sex-role stereotyping. (Appendixes and supplements amount to well over nine-tenths of the report. Inventories for the four occupational areas which were sent to incumbent workers to survey background information, equipment lists, and task lists are appended. The supplements provide other project products: a sample small engine module for teacher development, listing of auto mechanics and tractor mechanics modules adaptable to diesel, initial status report on diesel equipment repair programs, list of nineteen diesel and fifty auto/diesel modules developed and program sequence master sheets for small engine repair with objectives and module titles for forty-seven modules, and air conditioning modules adaptable to appliance repair. A program sequence master sheet for masonry was produced but is not included. (YLB)
