Interviewed a sample of 118 caregivers maintaining relatives with dementia at home, who completed questionnaires at initial and follow-up assessment 6 months later. All dependents received a cognitive assessment. Results of data analysis supported a model of caregiving in which negative outcomes of burden and impaired health reduced positive outcomes of enjoyment of aspects of caregiving.
