Language Trends 2010 Secondary (CILT, ALL, ISMLA) Data Report

This survey has been carried out annually since 2002 to track developments in language provision and take up in secondary schools. The following sections are included in this analysis of key results from the Secondary Language Trends survey: (1) Survey background, methodology and sample design; (2) DfE (Department for Education) data trends of GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) language entries at KS4, 1994-2010;(3) Secondary school survey summary of key findings; and (4) Full data tables of survey analysis. Appendices include: (1) Analysis of language take-up in schools by school characteristics and region, (maintained schools only); and (2) Sample reliability analysis, comparisons of the achieved survey sample with the national population of all schools on key indicators/variables.
