The Bologna Process in Croatia
Orosz, Anna
European Education, v40 n2 p66-84 Sum 2008
In this paper, the author examines the implementation of the Bologna reforms in Croatian higher education. A number of initiatives were launched in Croatia in order to adjust to the Bologna process. Some doubts still accompany the reforms partly due to the vigorous central pressure and to the lack of initial communication. Since 2000, dialogue between the government and higher education institutions has improved. Moreover, the number of seminars and conferences with international attendance has increased, encouraging a better view of the reform and trust toward it. Institutions execute the reforms according to their own resources. However, reevaluations are needed if the changes are to achieve the expected results and so that the Croatian higher education system can become part of the competitive European higher education area.
