This publication outlines the activities of the Office of Juvenile Justice since its creation. It also reports on the entire Federal effort in delinquency prevention and juvenile justice. An introductory section describes the history and purpose of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 (Public Law 93-415). Other sections describe the functioning of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention; analyze the federal role in juvenile delinquency prevention; outline the current federal effort; present priority needs and spending patterns; and assess federal program and project evaluations. A final section briefly suggests information needed for future planning.
