Towards a Conceptual Basis for Understanding Developmental Guidance and Counselling Model

Comprehensive developmental guidance and counselling model is a 21st century school counselling intervention emphasizing school guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive counselling services and system support. The aims of this paper therefore, were to articulately define comprehensive guidance and counselling within the framework of developmental guidance, and examine comprehensive guidance and counselling within the context of developmental guidance curriculum goals. Relative information were also provided on comprehensive (whole) school guidance and counselling programme in terms of meeting not only the mission and vision of the school guidance programme but also that of the entire school system.
