Guidelines for use of the International System of Units (SI), informally called the metric system, that has been adopted by the National Bureau of Standards, are given. Topics include: acceptable units, fundamental constants, natural units, descriptive and essential data, and special considerations. Tables of units and conversion factors are appended. (MK)
