Welding Fundamentals. U.S.O.E. 17.23 16. Student's Manual [and] Instructor's Guide.
Fulgham, Wayne
This two-part publication covers the fundamentals for the beginning welder. The student's manual includes many illustrations to acquaint the student with tools and materials used in the welding trade. The manual is self-contained and is written for use in all types of trade and industrial classes. The manual contains 10 lessons, each of which consists of learning objectives, technical information, and exercises. The lessons cover the following topics: introduction, safety, tools and equipment, blueprints and mathematics, oxyacetylene welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, metals, and welding opportunities. A glossary is also included. The instructor's guide was developed to help teachers present technical information on welding to (1) groups of trade and industrial students with a variety of objectives and (2) homogeneous groups in which student learning levels vary considerably. The guide contains suggestions on how the student should use the student manual and how the instructor can coordinate work experience and learning at school. It provides further information on measurement and blueprint reading; it also contains (1) answers to both exercise questions and assignment test questions, (2) one set of assignment tests, and (3) a work sheet for matching related instruction to job experience for each student.
