This report is a summary of the first of five phases of a demonstration project of energy conservation school building modifications. The ten schools studied in this phase were selected as typical of the variations of building design, construction, and location for schools in this country. Given in this report are: (1) descriptions of the schools at each demonstration site including building characteristics and energy conservation recommendations; and (2) tables summarizing the costs and recovery rates of the recommended energy conservation options.
