Research identified and evaluated the level of applied mathematics and science used in selected trade and industrial (T&I) subjects taught in the Kentucky Vocational Education System. The random sample was composed of 52 programs: 21 carpentry, 20 electricity/electronics, and 11 machine shop. The 96 math content items that were identified as representing 11 courses in the field of mathematics were structured into a general survey form along with appropriate descriptive information. The overall response rate was 51.9 percent. Each returned survey was tallied by content item and subtotaled by subject/course area. All responses were grouped by T&I area and combined in an overall for comparison. Percentages were calculated on each content item, on each math subject, and on the overall. (Five tables covering 22 pages display these results.) All three T&I areas exceeded the 50 percent level, which was accepted as significant instructional involvement, in the Fundamental Math course. Carpentry and machine shop covered over 50 percent of general math and geometry content items, electricity/electronics covered 61.76 percent of all algebra topics, and machine shop covered 57.89 percent of geometry content items.
