Low Energy Technology. A Unit of Instruction in Citrus Production.
Olson, Jeanne A.; Becker, William J.
This unit of instruction on citrus production was designed for use by agribusiness and natural resources teachers in Florida high schools and by agricultural extension agents as they work with adults and students. It is one of a series of 11 instructional units (see note) written to help teachers and agents to educate their students and clients about the problems of energy shortages and strategies for energy conservation and management. This unit is organized into nine modules. Topics covered in the unit include energy usage, site planning, planting, grove operations, integrated pest management, fertilization, irrigation, cold protection, and harvesting and hauling the citrus crop. The unit contains student performance objectives, content information, teaching-learning activities, student handouts, transparency masters, and evaluation instruments. (KC)
