Comprehensive Instructional Management System (CIMS). A Cyclical Mathematics Curriculum. Part 1, Teacher, Experimental. Level 2.
New York City Board of Education, Brooklyn, NY. Div. of Curriculum and Instruction.
The major goal of the Comprehensive Instructional Management System (CIMS) for mathematics is to provide the classroom teacher in New York City with a well-structured, objective-based curriculum. This first part of the manual for Level 2 includes varied numbers of modules for 12 topics: numbers and numeration; addition of whole numbers; subtraction of whole numbers; multiplication of whole numbers; division of whole numbers; fractions; geometry; measurement; algebraic concepts; graphs, probability, and statistics; problem solving; and review. The instructional sequence is listed, followed by the content listed by topic. Reinforcement of previously learned skills is incorporated into the sequence where appropriate. Then, each objective is taken up in turn, with vocabulary, activities for getting started, and teaching strategies described. The pupil's worksheets are interspersed. Resource materials, symbols, and equipment lists are included. (MNS)
