The "Purchase Order and Original Cataloging" (PO/OC) module is one of 11 units that make up the Bibliographic Automation of Large Library Operations Using a Time-sharing System (BALLOTS) used in the Stanford University Libraries. As part of this on-line, interactive system, the PO/OC module provides for the computerized production of purchase orders, dealer reports, search notices, catalog cards, spine labels, claim notices, and other forms necessary to complete cataloging functions. This text provides a detailed description of the tasks performed by PO/OC, and it provides a brief description of the other modules which make up the BALLOTS system.
