Engaging and Motivating Employees and Students: The Search for a Psychological Grail?
DeKay, Sam H.
Business Communication Quarterly, v76 n2 p249-251 Jun 2013
What specific factors will motivate employees to perform most productively? This question, and its variants, has prompted more research related to workplace psychology than any other issue since Elton Mayo conducted his celebrated studies at the Hawthorne Works of Cicero, Illinois, in the 1920s. This brief article surveys some of the vast corpus of motivation studies that identified many variables responsible for employee motivation, noting that no consensus among researchers has been achieved.
