This book is a compilation of the recommendations on leadership contained in education reports and management studies over the past 5 years. In addition exemplary programs reported in a survey by the American Association of School Administrators are presented throughout the book in sections titled "Promising Practices." Eight issues identified in the reports and addressed by the educational leaders are discussed: (1) what leadership is; (2) what education reports say about leadership; (3) sharing-decision making; (4) attracting, motivating, and rewarding good teachers; (5) curriculum leadership; (6) leadership for at-risk students; (7) building partnerships; (8) involving parents; and (9) leadership beyond the reports. Lists of education reports addressed and business texts consulted are included. (SI)
