Adults may feel uncertain about how to handle bullying when they see or hear it happening, or they may respond in ways that don't make the best use of the opportunity to teach a young person the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behavior. They could end up inadvertently promoting, rather than reducing bullying. This article offers simple, and practical intervention strategies from the curriculum crafted for No Name Calling Week that may help adults, and students respond more effectively on-the-spot and make the best use of the "teachable moment" with all students at school. Techniques for individual follow up and support are also presented.
