The 12th annual report on continuing education activities of The University of British Columbia (UBC) Canada is presented. It covers the period of September 1987 to August 1988. Nineteen sections cover the following: Office of Extra-Sessional Studies; faculty of education off campus credit courses; UBC access; guided independent study; Centre for Continuing Education; Division of Continuing Education in the Health Sciences; professional programs of the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration; Professional Continuing Education Program of the School of Social Work; faculty of education non-credit activities; professional continuing and distance education activities of the Faculty of Forestry; School of Physical Education and Recreation Community Sport Services Adult Program; Museum of Anthropology: exhibits and programs; UBC botanical garden; free public lectures, courses, seminars; demonstrations, scientific exhibits and public information service; public concerts, theatre performances and art exhibits; province-wide continuing education services; UBC Speakers Bureau; and statistical summary of UBC continuing education programs 1986-87. Highlights include the following: enrollment in credit courses administered by the Office of Extra Sessional Studies increased markedly in all three sessions; the general economic upturn in the province had a positive impact on enrollment in programs offered by the Centre for Continuing Education; and in 1988 the UBC Speakers Bureau expanded its scope to include servicing traditional nonprofit community user groups.
